  "story": "Simmons won Wing Bowl five times between 1999 and 2005, the only eater ever to do it. Wikipedia lists the editions as IX, X, XI and XIII, which is four numerals for five titles; the count is reported consistently and the roll call is not, and this record leaves the discrepancy standing rather than picking numbers.\n\nHe was the local man in a field that went professional around him. When Joey Chestnut offered to drink a gallon of milk to qualify in 2006, the hosts thought it soft; Simmons, in the room, said it was hard, and Chestnut got his five minutes. Angelo Cataldi brought Simmons out of retirement in 2008 to face Chestnut and billed it as the greatest Wing Bowl ever. His personal best came later, in 2011: 254 wings, one behind Jonathan Squibb.\n\nHe built a business on the name — an El Wingador sauce line started after Wing Bowl VII, with plans announced in 2019 to restart the company.\n\nOn 16 June 2012 he was charged with first-degree distribution of cocaine and released on $10,000 bail. He said at the time: \"This isn't me. This isn't my style. I messed up big time and I give my sincerest apologies to anyone I have hurt by my actions.\" In July 2013 he pleaded guilty to second-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. He was sentenced on 4 October 2013 to seven years in state prison and released in May 2015.\n\nHis name is on a banner in the rafters of the Wells Fargo Center.",
