Hadassah founded the medical work in 1934 and still underwrites a large part of the budget; the fundraising is in the United States and the beds are in Jerusalem.\n\nEin Kerem carried 700 beds before 2012 and added about 500 more with a tower that opened that year. Mount Scopus carries over 300. Since 27 February 2025 the Jerusalem light rail's Red Line has served Ein Kerem with two stations.\n\nThe hospital is Israel's most productive in research by the Nature Index for 2024 to 2025, at around 900 peer-reviewed papers a year.
