"condition" คือค่าตั้งเครื่องสำหรับสารที่คุณอยากรู้ ตัวอย่างที่ส่งพร้อม condition จากงานวิจัยหรือวิธีมาตรฐาน ราคาถูกลงA "condition" is the instrument settings for the compound you want. A sample sent with one, from a paper or a standard method, costs less.

The gas chromatograph (GC) pulls a mixture apart in time. The mass spectrometer (MS) smashes each compound as it arrives and weighs the pieces. The pieces are that compound's fingerprint.

It flashes to vapour, and flowing helium carries it into the column. Some labs use hydrogen or nitrogen instead.

Its inner wall carries a thin film. Each compound clings to the film by a different amount: the ones that cling less, or boil lower, come out first.

A hot filament fires 70-electron-volt electrons at each molecule. One electron is knocked off, the molecule becomes a positive ion, and the leftover energy shatters it.

At any one setting only fragments of one mass-to-charge ratio (m/z) ride down the middle; the rest wobble out into the rods.

The computer draws two pictures: the chromatogram (one peak per compound, over time) and, for each peak, its mass spectrum (one bar per fragment size).
