Why this site is short of pictures of people
What it is
The free pictures of tattooed bodies are mostly colonial-era photographs of people who did not choose to be photographed, or sideshow portraits made to be sold.
The long version
A picture can be correctly licensed, on subject, and still be the wrong thing to put in front of a reader. This site's rules on that are simple and were set by its publisher: no blood, no wounds, nothing that turns a person into a specimen, and where a historical photograph is used, it is named for what it is.
The pictures here that show living practice were taken with permission and are credited to the people who gave it.
