  "story": "Frederick Alvin \"Allie\" Briggs opened Allie's Hand-Cut Do-nut Shop on 1 June 1968 in a former sub sandwich shop, with about forty dollars in hand and a seven-thousand-dollar debt. He was a dairy farmer from Point Judith with ten years of donut experience from a shop in Wakefield. He took $38 on the first day, selling close to a hundred dozen at 39 cents each.\n\nIn 1969 his son Ricky was killed by a drunk driver while out delivering donuts for the business alongside his cousin. Briggs nearly closed.",
