The story Cited
Lett went to Oregon against the advice of his professors at Davis, who held that the state was too cold and too wet for vinifera. The 1975 South Block Reserve placed tenth in a Paris tasting in 1979 and second, by fractions, in Robert Drouhin's rematch in Beaune the year after.
