Bobbee O's BBQ and the pits around it.

A Black-owned barbecue counter on Statesville Road in north Charlotte, opened in 2008 by Bob Steven Roberts after four years working on his sauce. The board runs to pulled pork, ribs, brisket and wings rather than whole hog, and the room is counter service with online ordering. Roberts's niece Chloria Chandler is his business partner. It is one of the few barbecue businesses in Mecklenburg County that the Black-owned business directories carry, and the only one in this project's Charlotte records.

Bob Steven Roberts spent four years on the sauce before he opened. He had lived in California and New Jersey before coming to North Carolina more than thirty years ago, cooked in Fayetteville and Raleigh, and landed in Charlotte. His niece Chloria Chandler works with him as his business partner; she told QCity Metro in November 2021 that her favourite is the ribs, because she had been eating them since she was in her mother's stomach. The Black-owned business directories carry him: EatOkra lists the restaurant, NBA.com put it first in a list of ten Black-owned Charlotte restaurants in February 2023, and the chef Todd Richards included it in his guide to Black-owned barbecue, updated May 2025, with a note that this is the place for a sampler plate. What is under the meat is not settled. A 2024 lifestyle listing says hickory; a barbecue blog reported second-hand in 2016 that the kitchen ran a cabinet smoker and was not trying for wood smoke, and its own 2012 visit found no smoker in sight. The restaurant's site says nothing about fuel, so no wood tag is set here. Inference — the sauce, not the fire, is what every account of this kitchen is actually about.

Counter service and online ordering: pulled pork, ribs, brisket and wings by the plate or the pound, with the house sauce that took four years to settle. There is no whole hog on the board in any source read, and no hash. Cards are taken. The room keeps long hours by barbecue standards, into the evening six nights and to eight on Sunday.
