A hot spring inside a national park east of Pai, where the source feeds a stream you can sit in where it has cooled enough.
The long version
A hot spring is groundwater heated at depth and returned to the surface, and in this part of northern Thailand there are several along the same geological grain the road follows.
Inference — arrive in Pai with daylight left and this is where the afternoon goes. Teak overhead, the stream running warm over your legs, and nothing else to do until dinner.
Not on this disk: the current entrance fee — Thailand charges a separate foreigner rate at national parks — the opening hours, or which pools are open in which season. The source is very hot; the temperature you can sit in is a stretch of the stream, not the source itself.
