Clos Vougeot
Clos Vougeot — Arnaud 25, CC BY-SA 3.0

Fifty hectares behind a wall the Cistercians of Cîteaux built, and more than eighty owners inside it. One name on every label, and a slope that runs from grand cru ground at the top to heavy clay by the road.

When the door opens

Nobody has published this one's days where this project could read them. That is a gap here, not a locked door — write ahead, and see the finder for the cellars that do publish.

The story Cited

Bought or gifted to the monks between the twelfth and early fourteenth centuries, farmed as one block for six hundred years, then broken up after the Revolution and split again at every inheritance. The wall is the appellation; the ground inside it is not one thing.
