Pink Box

on the sideBoba

also: bubble tea · pearl milk tea

The newest thing on an old board, usually in a different typeface.

Tea with milk and tapioca pearls, sealed under a film lid and drunk through a fat straw.

The story Inference

Bubble tea came out of Taiwan in the 1980s and spread through Taiwanese and Chinese diaspora communities. American donut shops with Asian-American owners have added it to the board as a second-generation move: a product with a young customer and a better margin than a glazed.

Today Inference

A shop that adds boba is usually adding it beside the donuts, not instead of them.
