Kenneth "Cat Daddy" Pogson and Richard "Tres" Shannon opened the first shop on Southwest Third Avenue in Old Town Portland in May 2003. The logo carries a depiction of Baron Samedi, a figure from Haitian Vodou. Until 2006 the shop opened only at night.
The pink box came from California: Pogson travelled there, saw the boxes, and brought both the box and the slogan home — "Good things come in pink boxes."
Today Inference
The pink box now reads as Voodoo's to a lot of people who have never been to a strip-mall shop in Orange County.
