Cyrus Jacobs built the brick house in 1864. Basque families ran it as a boarding house; the Uberuagas took it on in 1917, bought it in 1928, and kept boarders until 1969. Adelia Simplot, a Basque immigrant's daughter, bought it from the family and opened the museum inside it in 1985.
