Where they come from
All of them from Wikimedia Commons, pulled by tools/harvest_commons.py, which reads the
licence off each file and refuses anything that is not free to reuse. Share-alike is complied with, not
dodged: the licence and the photographer ride with the file and are printed beside it.
What is thin: almost no free photograph exists of the inside of an American Basque dining room. The Commons material is strong on the Basque Country itself, on the Boise block, and on the sheep camps — and nearly silent on Bakersfield, Elko and Gardnerville interiors. That gap is on the gaps page, not papered over with a stock photograph.
