Refills happen without the question being asked, which is most of the reason people sit down.

Drip coffee from a glass pot on a warmer, in a paper cup or a mug, refilled by whoever is at the counter.

The story Cited · wp-dunkin-donuts

Coffee and donuts were paired commercially before either was a chain: Bill Rosenberg's finding, selling food to factories and construction sites in the 1940s, was that donuts and coffee were the two items people bought. He built a company on the pair. The dunking that gave Dunkin' its name was ordinary behaviour first; Johnny Spartos, running the Quincy shop, talked Rosenberg into making a donut with a handle for it.

Today Inference

An independent shop's coffee is rarely the reason to go, and a shop that raises the coffee price before the donut price is telling you where its margin is. Inference — that reading is this project's, not a published finding.
