The story Cited · wp-the-donut-hole

The first Donut Hole opened in 1963 in La Puente, though sources disagree — one says the La Puente shop was the second, opened in 1968, and dates the building anywhere from 1947 to 1962. What is settled is that the chain went out of business in 1979, the Lopez family bought the La Puente shop that year and held it until 2003, the Covina branch was remodelled beyond recognition and the rest were demolished. This one is the last working example.

Newlyweds drive through it. Some say for luck; others are less coy about the symbolism. Cars have hit the building more than once.
