A regular means light and sweet, and you do not have to say so.

Which dough this style runs.

Coffee first, donut second, at a counter that measures itself in how fast the line moves. The New England model, and the one the rest of the country meets as a drive-thru.

The story Cited · wp-dunkin-donuts

Bill Rosenberg opened the Open Kettle in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1948, selling donuts and coffee; in May 1950 he renamed it Dunkin' Donuts. He had been selling food to factories and construction sites and found donuts and coffee were what people bought. Franchising started in 1955. Johnny Spartos, running the original Quincy shop, talked Rosenberg into a donut with a handle, made for dunking.

The chain's growth came partly by absorption: in 1990 it took over Mister Donut — founded by Rosenberg's former partner Harry Winokur — and Dawn Donuts, converting the shops.

Density is the New England fact. The Providence metropolitan area has been cited as having the most donut shops per capita in the United States: 25.3 per 100,000 people, as of 13 January 2010.

How it is done Inference

Donuts arrive from a central kitchen in most locations now, which is the difference between this and a shop with a kettle.

Today Inference

A New England independent competes on frying on site and says so on the window.
