Where the Ruak meets the Mekong, and three countries face each other across the water.
The Mekong is one of the great rivers of Southeast Asia, running from the Tibetan plateau through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam to the sea. The Ruak is far smaller, flowing down from the north to meet the Mekong at the point where Thailand reaches its northern tip.
At the meeting point three countries face one another: Thailand on one shore, Laos on another, Myanmar across the water. Boats cross between them, and a sign marks the viewpoint that draws visitors from across the north.
