The Golden Triangle lies about an hour or more north of Chiang Rai town by road. It is reached by private car, rental car, or bus on the Chiang Saen and Mae Sai routes.

เส้นทางหนึ่งวันเริ่มที่จุดชมวิวสบรวกตอนเช้า ชมป้าย พระพุทธรูป และหอฝิ่น แล้วเลยไปเมืองเชียงแสนช่วงบ่ายเพื่อชมกำแพงและวัด สิ้นสุดที่ริมน้ำตอนเย็นเพื่อดูพระอาทิตย์ตก

A one-day route starts at the Sop Ruak viewpoint in the morning — the sign, the Buddha and the Hall of Opium — then on to Chiang Saen in the afternoon for the walls and temples, ending at the riverfront for sunset.

The cool season, November to February, brings mild weather and little rain, the most comfortable time to travel, with morning mist and clear days.
