What it is

Mae Rim to Samoeng, ridden as a day loop out of Chiang Mai and back. Not part of the Mae Hong Son circuit, and the best possible preparation for it.

The long version

Inference — the case for riding this first is strong and almost nobody makes it. Measured off OSM the stitched run is 29.8 kilometres carrying 130 curves at a 25-degree threshold with 19 hairpins — 6.34 curves a kilometre, the densest road measured on this whole network, against Route 1095's 5.71.

So it is the same riding, in a day, from a hotel you are already in, on a bike you have just rented, with Chiang Mai an hour away if something is wrong. A rider who finds the Samoeng loop tiring has learned something very cheap about what four days of it would be.
