an organization · United States of AmericaGlobal Healthcare Accreditation
also: GHA
GHA certifies the journey. A hospital can hold it and hold no clinical accreditation at all.
An accreditation body founded in 2016 for medical travel rather than for clinical care. Its flagship standards address what it calls the medical travel care continuum across three competencies — "Patient Experience, Sustainable Business Practices, and Patient-Focused Clinical Processes" — from the first enquiry to recovery at home. Its founder co-founded the Medical Tourism Association, and the two remain strategic partners on training, accreditation and certification.
The story Cited · gha-about
GHA occupies the gap the clinical schemes leave. JCI surveys the hospital; nobody surveys the phone call, the quotation, the airport transfer, the interpreter, the discharge pack or the handover to a doctor eight time zones away. Those are where cross-border care actually fails, and GHA sells an inspection of them.
The standards themselves hold an ISQua EEA award — Standards for Medical Travel 5.0 — so the chain of who checks the checker is complete and named. The commercial relationship with the trade association that promotes the industry is also named, by both bodies, on their own pages. A reader can decide what to make of that; this record's job is to say it is there.
Inference — the pathway scope is the reason a GHA mark and a JCI mark are not substitutes and should never be added together. One says a ward was inspected. The other says a customer journey was.
How it works Cited · gha-about
An organisation applies and pays, is assessed against the Standards for Medical Travel, and is listed on a public directory of accredited and certified organisations, searchable by region. The directory carries dates on both ends — an entry read on 16 September 2026 showed a term running 24 November 2022 to 24 November 2025, which is the three-year shape the clinical schemes use.
Today Cited · gha-about
As of 16 September 2026 the public directory lists organisations in Thailand, the United States, South Korea, Colombia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Philippines, the Dominican Republic and Ukraine among others. GHA publishes no total on the pages read for this record.
