A Jerusalem hospital on two campuses — Mount Scopus, opened 1939, and Ein Kerem, established 1961 — with more than 1,300 beds between them, 31 operating theatres and nine intensive care units. It is owned and part-funded by the Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization of America, and it is the teaching hospital of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for medicine, dentistry, nursing, public health and pharmacology.

An American membership organisation owning and subsidising a hospital in another country is a form this directory meets nowhere else. Hadassah founded the medical work in 1934 and still underwrites a large part of the budget; the fundraising is in the United States and the beds are in Jerusalem.

Ein Kerem carried 700 beds before 2012 and added about 500 more with a tower that opened that year. Mount Scopus carries over 300. Since 27 February 2025 the Jerusalem light rail's Red Line has served Ein Kerem with two stations.

The hospital is Israel's most productive in research by the Nature Index for 2024 to 2025, at around 900 peer-reviewed papers a year. Newsweek's 2025 list placed it fourth in Israel and 242nd in the world. Inference — that pair of placings, one national and one global, is the more useful reading of a ranking: the same institution is near the top of a small system and in the middle of a large list, and neither number says anything about a particular operation.

Israel's 2018 medical tourism legislation governs how its hospitals may treat foreign patients, and the argument it settled — whether foreign work in a subsidised hospital displaces citizens — applies here with an extra turn, because the subsidy is foreign too.

Trade practice — foreign patients reach Hadassah through its international department and through the Hadassah organisation's own networks abroad, which is a referral route no commercial group has. Neurosurgery, oncology and transplantation carry most of it.
