A residential course of Ayurvedic treatment, prescribed by a physician after consultation and run daily for two to four weeks: oil applications and massage, herbal steam, forehead oil pouring, medicated enemas and internal preparations, with a prescribed vegetarian diet, yoga and rest. It is bought by the night or by the package, and the treatment plan is set by the resident doctor rather than by the price paid.

Panchakarma is the oldest long-stay product in this trade and the one that sits most awkwardly inside it: a therapeutic system with its own diagnostics, its own state regulation in India, and a resort economy built on top of it.

The tariffs show the structure. Somatheeram in Kerala prices a fourteen-night Body Purification Package per person by room category and by season: from 2,422 euro single in a standard cottage in June to September, to 3,668 euro for the same room in the December to March peak, with the top suite at 8,736. The booklet states its validity as 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, that all applicable taxes are included, that the package covers doctor's consultations, treatments, medication, Ayurvedic full board, yoga, meditation and accommodation, with airport transfers for stays of seven days or more, and that the package includes treatments to the value of 140 euro a day per person. It also states that the resort is a healing retreat serving only treatment patients: a room-only booking is confirmed with a package or not at all.

Barberyn in Sri Lanka splits the same product in two. Rooms run 200 to 450 euro a night single for the season dated 15 April to 30 November 2026, full board with transfers and excursions; Ayurveda treatment is mandatory for every guest and is charged separately at 100 euro a day, or 700 a week.

Ayurveda Parkschloesschen in Germany prices a thirteen-night classic Panchakarma cure at 4,090 euro for the treatment package, plus room and full board from 4,160 - roughly five times the Kerala figure for a night shorter, which is the whole of the cost argument in one line.

Inference -- the reason a reader cannot compare these three to a hospital price is that the object is different. There is no operation, no implant, no discharge summary. What is bought is a physician's plan, a therapist's hands and a fortnight of days, and the only figure that transfers across borders is the day rate.

A consultation on arrival sets the plan; the resort's own booklet states that the content of a package may differ with the patient's condition and that the final decision belongs to the consulting doctor. Days run to a timetable of oil treatments, steam, diet and rest, with yoga and lectures. Classical purification is heavier than the resort version and is not offered to everyone. The recommended minimum stay printed on the Kerala booklet for its purification package is fourteen to twenty-one days, and the daily treatment runs ninety to a hundred and twenty minutes.

Three published tariffs sit on this record - India, Sri Lanka and Germany - each read off the provider's own price list in September 2026, and each with a stated validity period. Two of the three price the treatment separately from the bed.
