Bone and cartilage of the nose are cut, filed, repositioned or added to, through the nostrils or through a small bridging incision at the base of the nose. An implant or a graft of the patient's own cartilage builds a bridge; a rasp and osteotomes take one down. Swelling hides the result for months, and the operation has one of the higher revision rates in cosmetic surgery.

Rhinoplasty travels for two different reasons that end up on the same price page. One is money: the operation is elective everywhere, excluded by insurers everywhere, and priced four or five times higher in the United States than in Bangkok or Prague. The other is taste. Surgeons in Seoul, Istanbul and Bangkok built reputations for particular noses, and patients cross borders for a house style as much as for a discount.

The price tables show the split plainly. Yanhee Hospital in Bangkok lists augmentation rhinoplasty by implant origin - standard, USA, Korea - at 30,000, 40,000 and 50,000 baht, and a rib-graft reconstruction at 220,000 with a night on the ward. Premier Clinic in Prague lists one line, open rhinoplasty from 51,300 koruna. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons publishes an average surgeon fee of 7,637 US dollars and states in the same breath that it excludes anaesthesia and the operating room.

Trade practice -- revision is the number that decides whether a cheap nose was cheap. A second operation is harder than the first, most surgeons will not revise another surgeon's work for a year, and a revision booked at home after a rhinoplasty bought abroad is priced as a new private operation.

General anaesthesia is usual, and most published packages send the patient out the same day or after one night. Splints and internal dressings come off at five to seven days, which sets the earliest sensible flight home. Bruising around the eyes fades over two to three weeks; the fine shape of the tip settles over a year or more, which is why before-and-after photographs taken at six weeks show a nose that is still swollen. Where the operation also straightens the septum, some health systems pay for that half and not the other, and the surgeon's letter has to separate them.

Four published prices sit on this record, from Thailand, Czechia, Poland and the United States, each read off the seller's own page in September 2026. They are not comparable until the reader adds what each leaves out: the American figure is a surgeon's fee alone, the Polish one is indicative and excludes an 800 zloty ward day, the Thai one is sorted by implant brand, and the Czech one begins with the word from.
