Not a district but a triangle, roughly forty kilometres on a side. Medanta — The Medicity sits in Sector 38, Gurugram, on the Haryana side; Fortis Memorial Research Institute is eight kilometres north of it on Fortis Hospital Road in Sector 44; Max's flagship stands off Press Enclave Road in Saket, South Delhi; Indraprastha Apollo is further east again, on Mathura Road at Sarita Vihar. Between and around them lie Vasant Kunj, Rajinder Nagar and the guesthouse streets of Lajpat Nagar and Bhogal, which is where most of the patients actually stay.

Medanta opened in 2009, founded by the cardiac surgeon Naresh Trehan with Sunil Sachdeva: 1,250 beds on 43 acres, built for about ₹1,200 crore. Max opened its first centre in South Delhi's Panchsheel Park in 2000 and commissioned the East Block of the Saket hospital in 2004. Inference — the dates are the point. Delhi's private tertiary capacity was largely built inside a single decade, at a moment when the Haryana side of the border was selling farmland cheaply to anyone who would put a tower on it, which is why so much of it stands in Gurugram rather than in Delhi.

Trade practice — the flow into this cluster is overwhelmingly regional and overland as much as by air: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, the Gulf. The guesthouse economy around Lajpat Nagar exists because a cardiac or transplant patient brings a family, stays for weeks, cooks their own food and cannot afford a hotel.

Inference — the sprawl is a directory problem before it is a patient problem. A harvest set tight on Saket misses Gurugram entirely, and a hub record that named one of the three would be describing a competitor rather than a cluster. This record takes the whole triangle and says so.

An estimate, not a package: room category, surgeon, theatre, projected stay, and a bill that moves with the stay. Most large hospitals here run an international patient desk that handles the visa invitation, the airport pickup and the interpreter, and several of them staff Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Russian and French. Payment is a deposit against the estimate, settled at discharge.

As of 16 September 2026 the harvest point for this hub sits between Gurugram and Saket, with a 40-kilometre radius — the widest in this batch — chosen to reach Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and central Delhi in one query. Precision is region, not city, and that is a statement about the cluster rather than about the geocoding.
