A Turkish hospital group of eighteen hospitals — sixteen across seven Turkish cities, one at Winchester in England and one at Sarajevo — trading since 1992. This record is the group, and it pins Medicana International İstanbul at Beylikdüzü, the hospital the group presents first to patients from abroad.

Medicana began in 1992 and grew into Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Konya, Samsun, Sivas and Bursa, then outward to Winchester and Sarajevo. It states more than 5.5 million patients a year from Türkiye and elsewhere.

That figure needs its qualifier. It is a group total for eighteen hospitals in three countries, it is not separated into foreign and domestic, and it counts encounters rather than people: a Turkish patient with a chronic condition who attends an outpatient clinic monthly is twelve of the 5.5 million. This directory carries it as the group's own count of its own attendances and nothing more.

The Beylikdüzü hospital reads like a building designed for arrivals: 30,000 square metres, eight operating theatres, twenty-six observation beds, twenty-six or more clinical services, and an international patient centre with full-time interpreters in English, Russian, Arabic, Kurdish and Somali working around the clock. Inference — the language list is the itinerary. Kurdish and Somali are not on the signage of a hospital selling to Western Europe.

The group's about page, unusually, names no accreditation at all. The Beylikdüzü page carries one image, of the Türkiye health tourism authorisation certificate.

Trade practice — a Turkish group with an international patient centre works by routing: the enquiry lands centrally, the records are read, a hospital is assigned, and a figure follows by email. Medicana publishes no bed count for the group, no bed count for the flagship — the sentence on its own page has the number missing from it — and no price for anything.

As of 17 September 2026 the group states eighteen hospitals in three countries and more than 5.5 million patients a year. Its flagship page states eight operating theatres, twenty-six observation beds and 30,000 square metres, and leaves the inpatient bed figure blank.
